With more than 20 years’ experience within the media industry and two degrees in communication and psychology under his belt, Seven West Media (WA) is excited to appoint John Dawson as its first ever advertising trainer within the company’s print and digital team.
Dawson has a proven track record as a successful leader and communicator. His career has seen him work in Perth and London, across a raft of TV networks, radio stations, advertising agencies, digital agencies and record companies. Dawson joins Seven West Media having most recently worked at SBS and Game Plan Media, and prior to this as Business Director at MADD Marketing.
Dawson said his goal in his new role is to create leaders within the company.
“What I will be doing is sharing mine and each other’s knowledge and wisdom to create a deeper understanding of advertising relationships,” he said. “To go beyond just providing great service and support to clients and the team. To really connect everybody through trust, integrity and reliability.”
Seven West Media (WA), Chief Advertising Officer, Nathan Cave, said: “Seven West Media are excited to have John Dawson joining our team. We recognise that our people are our most important asset and to that end we have a responsibility to our people to ensure we provide them with training to enhance skills but also ensure career progression.
“Seven West Media acknowledge that we have the biggest advertising platform in WA and as such wish to continue leading the industry by having the best training available for our team.
“John is well respected and experienced within the advertising industry and is ideally placed to lead our training and development.”
Dawson said it was great Seven West Media is investing in an advertising trainer role, to create an environment that drives high performance and behaviours that lead to success.
“If you’re developing your people, then you’re developing your business to be more successful,” says Dawson. “A winning organisation is an environment of both personal and professional development in which both the individual and the team takes responsibility and shared ownership.”
Dawson will commence his new role with Seven West Media on August 15.
